Round 16 12 August 2006 Seniors Got numbers from the Under 17’s and kept the pressure on the Pups (who did a mighty job just fielding a side) for 4 Quarters, looked good and will need to play that way this week against West or the season might be over. Under-Age Sarge has got the new Web site up and running, so visit us at www.eppingfc.com.au or email the Footy Club on-: eppingfc@bigpond.net.au
Round 15 5 August 2006 Seniors Excuses do not win games and will not keep us in First Divivion, only hard work by a dedicated group of Players, who want to play football for this Club, will keep us there! This week we host Eltham who are on a roll and if we can regroup and get that hunger back, a win can be ours? Great debuts by Parrot and Longy last week, and we might have some more under 17 boys coming up this week. Reserves A few more getting back onto the park, we will get better as time goes by, so all stick with it and another win will not be far away! Having a crack and that’s all we ask, after the game this week, there will be snacks and a few drinks in the Clubrooms, make sure you are all there. Under 19's Got numbers from the Under 17’s and kept with the Machine until ¾ time, then we went to sleep and they crushed us. You have made it hard for yourselves now, but we all know you will be having a red hot go, good luck this week against The Pups at home. The week after we play West at home. Under-Age Help required next Sunday as we host the Division 3- Grand Finals, see Soley or Jaqui and put your name on the list to help out. Presentation day is on Sunday September 10th, $40.00 per Family, a great day is expected. Social Calendar The Spirits night was a flop because numbers were down. When players and supporters don’t attend these functions, it sends a clear message that they don’t care about the Club. When there is no money to go around, the players will have a pretty good reason why? Around the Club Positions will be coming available on the Senior Committee next Season, so if you are interested in the future of the Epping Football Club, see The Prez, as he and Steve are standing down. The excuses are coming thick and fast as to why people aren’t attending games, and they are crap, why don’t people be honest with us and themselves, and say they only follow winners!! Grub Award Kade got knocked out last week, and when revived by Kim, he was asked where he was, and politely replied, at your place in your bed. To everyone that didn’t turn up to the Spirits night, thanks for nothing. Email the Footy Club on-: eppingfc@bigpond.net.au
Round 14 29 July 2006 Seniors A game we had to win and were soundly beaten by a more desperate and committed side. This now leaves us in a very precarious position on the Ladder, we need another win to avoid relegation. The next few weeks will see what you Players are made of. Lets start this week against the Parkers! Reserves Email the Footy Club on-: eppingfc@bigpond.net.au
Round 13 22 July 2006 Seniors They say if you can’t write something nice, don’t write anything. This week is a must win for the Epping Football Club, forget all the crap about who is or isn’t available, we must win! We extend an invitation to Lalor’s Committee and supporters to join us at half time in our Social Rooms, as the Little League entertains the masses. Reserves They had a crack last week and got flogged. Regroup this week and have a win. Under 19's Played last Friday night under lights at Diamond Creek, and had a good win. Keep on winning and you give yourselves every chance of playing Finals football again this year. This week we play Northcote Park at Northcote Park Under-Age Wins to the Under 17’s,15’s and 12’s last week, which achieved two important goals, we stayed in Division 1 for 2007 and the Under 17’s play the First Semi this Sunday at Eltham. All supporters should attend. Help required next Sunday as we host the Division 3 2nd Semi Finals, see Soley or Jaqui. Social Calendar Saturday 5th August, Oktoberfest, more details later. Around the Club Positions will be coming available on the Senior Committee next Season, so if you are interested in the future of the Epping Football Club, see The Prez. The Girls night was a Screaming success, and fun was had by all. The Poker Day went of really well, and will be held again soon, Brett Miles was crowned poker champ. Grub Award Rohan Green, Brian McCloskey and Peter McMahon all stood up last Sunday, but Peter Mac giving out Beer showers, just shows how stupid alcohol can make Idiots do even sillier things. He then had the nerve to whinge because he couldn’t get served again! Email the Footy Club on-: eppingfc@bigpond.net.au
Round 12 15 July 2006 Seniors In conditions resembling the Ice-Age, we were comfortably defeated by the 20 Bunnies who took the field last week, I have written before, that we are not to be taken for granted in the decision making area, and the enemy will pay for their continued bias against the Epping Football Club, we only ask that we are given a fair go during the games we play in, and they be consistent. Next week we play Heidelberg away, and have to put up with the worst Visitors rooms in the Valley, we hope the Easterners like their new facilities? Reserves Still struggling with numbers, but the Guys who are putting their hand up each week we thank you for your efforts. To the ones who continually let us down, get fair dinkum and help the Club and your Mates out. Thanks to the under 19 players who helped out last week and we will probably need you again this week. Under 19's We are playing Friday night under lights at Diamond Creek, so the results are not known. Keep on winning and you give yourselves every chance of playing Finals football again this year. Under-Age Last weekend was not good for the Juniors with all sides being defeated, as this next game is the last game of the Season, we expect to get all teams on the winning side of the ledger. Presentation day is on Sunday September 10th, notices in rooms for all Social Functions. Social Calendar Tonight 22/7, Ladies Night Around the Club Positions will be coming available on the Senior Committee next Season, so if you are interested in the future of the Epping Football Club, see The Prez. Due to the inclement weather the main ground has been closed for 2 weeks. The boys finished the Audio system last week and now move onto the new TV screen and video facilities. Grub Award Tania Willitts arrived back last Friday and Barb Keating let everyone within a 2 kilometre radius know that she was back, a real Kodak moment. The clowns at the Council deserve a mention for getting their noses out of joint about the tiling, I thought they were our rooms? Email the Footy Club on-: eppingfc@bigpond.net.au
Round 11 1 July 2006 Seniors We will just have to sit back and see what Players return from injury after the weeks break. I can guarantee everyone that we didn't sustain any further injuries last game, and won by 107 goals. This week we host the Bunnies, and as they are the benchmark this Season, we will get a definite indication of our improvement, if any. We invite their Committee and supporters into our rooms for half time and after match festivities. Reserves Hopefully also get numbers back from injury and can field a competitive side this week. We hope that the aforesaid injured Players do return, and not just give the Game away and leave the Club to struggle for the rest of the Season. Speaking to other Clubs, we are not the only ones struggling to field a Reserve side, and maybe its time the League looked at the viability of this part of our Competition. Under 19's Had a good win against Lalor last Saturday at Home, which was the way the draw panned out?. This week we play South Morang at Kinglake just to make the Lakers Committee get out of bed early on a Saturday morning for no reason, only joking! We really play our next match under lights at Diamond Creek on Friday 21st July at 6.45 pm. Under-Age Under 17 and 11's in Division one and Under 14's had good wins last week, all the other teams were defeated but had a real crack. Keep trying boys and wins will come your way. The Frog night was a disaster, number wise, so we urge all Parents to support our Functions as it is part of your commitment to your son playing football at this Club. Presentation day is on Sunday September 10th, notices in rooms for all Social Functions. Social Calendar Tuesday Night 18/7, Dinner at the Epping Hotel, $10 meals, approximately 50 seats, first in will get a seat, see Jason to book Saturday Night 22/7, Ladies Night, featuring Reece the Cox, see Kirsti/Lee or Debbie Sole Sunday 23/7 12 Noon, Poker Day at Clubrooms, 80 players only, $25 per player, $10 non Player with $2 pots and Pizza lunch Saturday 5/8, Oktoberfest, more details later. $10000 draw tickets available now so you will be able to pay them off, see any Committee member Around the Club Junior mums Lisa and Debbie packed them,` when the uninvited guest showed up in the Canteen last week, it was like watching a Circus act. The Blue Room has gone, and the Bar area looks great after some expertise was envoked by Sean Bradford. A big thank you to all that assisted at the Working Bee, a real lot was achieved and everyone will benefit from your help. Positions will be coming available on the Senior Committee next Season, so if you are interested in the future of the Epping Football Club, see The Prez. Grub Award What colour do you want your Stubby Holder, Reece? How did the love birds feel on their arrival back home? Why did Sparks shoot his mouth of at the Cricketers when he was surrounded by them. Pete Fergo stated he was sick of getting in and out of holes on the weekend, and it is confirmed Rocket is useless at manual labour. Email the Footy Club on-: eppingfc@bigpond.net.au The Grub
Round 10 24 June 2006 Seniors We took the game right up to the Monty Machine last week, and if it hadn’t been for that incident with 8 minutes to go, we would have beaten them, no doubt! The whole of the Diamond Valley better take note, that the Epping Football Club are not taking any prisoners,” do unto us as you wish done unto you”, and that includes Officials. This week against the Doggies, lets give them a real run for their money, then have a few drinks with them afterwards. ReservesI know we are getting a few numbers back this week, so hopefully Macca will have some more to work with. To all the Guys who are continuing to put their hands up, week in and week out, we are surely indebted to you, just keep having a crack and success will come. Under 19’s Once again played some really good football to defeat West Preston lakeside last week, who beat us by 15 odd goals last time we met. Keep doing the things that the coaching panel ask of you and you will be playing Finals football. Best were Junior, Dizzy and Skinny Underage Division 1 Under 17’s were the only winning side last weekend. All the other teams tried hard but were not good enough on the day. Stick with it boys and the wins will come. Frog Racing night on the 7th July at 7 pm, we expect all parents of junior players to be in attendance Around The Club The support around the Club is on the rise again after the encouraging results of the Senior side over the past few weeks, and as previously reported, stick with us as we are rebuilding from the ground up, and the future looks rosy. Anybody interested in joining the Senior Committee for next year, contact John Mason, as there will be vacancies, help to maintain the current push of the future of the Epping Football Club. Grub Award Tania is away so John Willitts made amorous advances towards the Prez on Saturday night, he was dually knocked back because the Prez reckons he didn’t like the comment of mutton done up as lamb. Pissa and Constable Plod let loose with verbal diarrhoea after last weeks match, but he is one of your own boys? Social Scene July 1st is the Cocktail Nite/ Christmas in July, make sure all players bring a present for the Coach. Compulsory Function July 8th Working Bee at the Clubrooms 8am start- tradesmen and labourers required, see Woody/Soley July 18th Players & Supporters Diner at the Epping Hotel. $10 per head, all welcome, see Jason Andrews July 22nd Ladies Night - Saturday Night after the Heidelberg game July 23rd Poker Tournament. Seats are filling quickly, don't be the one to miss out.
Round 9 17 June 2006 Seniors At least we didn't give Creek a start last week, which enabled us to keep pace for the first 3 Quarters, and in the last beat the whole 20 of them that were on the Field, good idea having your interchange players wear Orange. Even though we are decimated by Injuries, we are very competitive, so next game against Mont we will find out if we have improved since the start of the season. Reserves As the Injury numbers increase by the week, the Twos are really struggling for players, but are having a red hot go by everyone that takes the Field. To those blokes who don’t even have the courtesy to advise Macca or Clarky that they are unavailable really let everyone down, thanks for nothing boys, I know who will have the last laugh on that issue! Under 19’s Played some really good football to defeat the Doggy Pups at our Ground, and with the influx of Under17 Players were starting to gel well together. Next game is another test and we are sure if you keep up the same discipline and commitment you can come away with the chocolates. Underage Division 1 Under 17’s 13’s + 12’s were the only side to record a win last weekend. All the other teams tried hard but were not good enough on the day. Stick with it boys and the wins will come. Congratulations to Glen Grigic and Matthew Evans on being selected as Captains of their respective Diamond Valley Rep Sides. Around The Club Good debut by Narbie Kelly-O’Brien and Chris Jewitt last week in the Seniors, which brings the total of Epping Under Age players used this Year to 27, so to all our supporters, bear with us as the future looks really good, because they want to play for the Club and make it successful. The Racing night was a huge success and fun was had by all that attended, it was a compulsory turn for all players, so those who didn't front, don’t whinge if the old pay packet is a bit light this week. Grub Award At the Racing night, there were some idiotic acts and remarks, Junior walking out of the dunny and directly in front of the dart board, The horse buyers, Jaco & Digger were the Freedman's, with Jase & Maso the Chicken Kings, Choppa, Greeny and Rusty trying to open the Bar via the grill, Choppa and the Paper Cuts, Cracker perving, Lovey, Kirsty and Joanne not having a clue and anyone using Peter Mac/Herbie has no brains. Thanks to everyone who has helped out at the Club over the past 8 weeks, I am indebted to you all forever. Social Scene July 1st Cocktail Nite/ Christmas in July, as this is only the 3rd function for the year, we expect to see every player and supporter at this turn July 8th Working Bee at the Clubrooms 8am start- tradesmen and labourers required. July 22nd Ladies Night - Saturday Night after the Heidelberg game July 23rd Poker Tournament, more details will be available shortly.
Round 7 3 June 2006 Well things are finally starting to look up at the club on the playing side of things. Seniors The seniors had another great win with all players really playing team footy which pays off as we can see from the scoreboard. Reserves Well done to the reserves on Saturday who notched up their first win of the season in an exciting game against Eltham. It was good to see the whole side putting in a 100% effort. It must have been the professional photograph of you coach “MACCA” in the local rag that inspired you all. Under 19’s The u19’s got beaten by quite a bit in the end. Maybe they could try and bring some of the after game aggression onto the field rather than fighting and arguing amongst themselves. Come on boys the club is behind you and its time to step up for yourselves and Vito. Around The Club All keep your eye out for all the coming social events in the near future. If anyone would like to help out with the social side of things see Steve Passeri or any member of the committee. Just to organise one function would be great, maybe a sportsman’s night or presidents lunch or similar. June 17th Racing Night - Don’t forget that this is a Compulsory Function. July 22nd Ladies Night - Saturday Night after the Heidelberg game July 23rd Poker Tournament, more details will be available shortly. Welcome back to John Mason after having a few heart problems. And to answer all those who need to know “YES HE DOES HAVE ONE”
Round 6 27 May 2006 Next week we travel to Eltham, and are looking at putting another win on the board. All players will need to provide 110% and make sure that we get over the line. Seniors Had the best start of our season, but let them back into the game. After Northcote Park came back to hit the front in the last quarter, we were able to kick a few quick late goals to hold on to the match. Need to put four quarters together. Best last week were Shane Jacobs, Bradley Hollow, Peter Little, Daniel Santoro, Shaun Garland. Reserves A much improved performance against Northcote Park. In front for most of the game. A sluggish third quarter costing us the game. Some good performances from the younger players especially. A new look Kade Passieri seems to have found his place as an onballer. Back to the track again with a must win this week. Best last week were Peter McMahon, Steven Baldwin, Brett Collins, Chris Moate, Adam Galea. Under 19’s Recorded another win last weekend, to bring us up to 3 and 3 and just outside the top 4. Great effort boys, keep doing the right things and we will keep getting the points on the board. Best last week were Travis Keating, Anthony Guida, Dale Potter, Mathew Thomas, David Little. Underage Under 12’s, Under 13’s, Under 15’s, Under 17’s Div1 won this weekend. All the other teams tried hard but were not good enough on the day. Stick with it boys and the wins will come our way. Around The Club There has been a change of date for the Next Function. July 22nd Ladies Night - Saturday Night after the Heidelberg game July 23rd Poker Tournament, more details will be available shortly.
Round 5 20 May 2006 Seniors Great win for the Club. We are taking big steps every week. With a young side that is realising hard work pays off. To beat Lalor at Lalor is a huge step in the development of the Club. Kouta is very proud of the boys but remember you are only as good as your last game!! Best last week were Shane Jacobs, Brad Hollows, Daniel King, Grant Baldwin and Mark Loorham. To sum it up it was a great team performance!! Reserves Played below our ability this week after a good effort the week before, just need to get back to basics and the wins will come on a positive note. Players are pushing for senior selection and many have been rewards by there efforts. Hit the track and things will turn around. Best last week were Steven Baldwin, Brett Collins, Ryan Aisbett, Brett McCarthy, and Grant Voss. Under 19’s Over the past few weeks performed badly, not up to our standards. Last week against Lalor the boys came out off the blocks quickly with a 5.1 to 0.1 first quarter. After bad second and thirds quarters we had a great final quarter to win by 6 goals. Keep the good work up boys, our fitness is starting to take control. Also need to keep the good work up on the training track. Underage Don’t forget Trivia Night June 2nd at the rooms. Around The Club Great to see so many players and supporters back at the club, we still need a lot more up there to support these functions!! So try to make an effort, it’s really not that hard. June 17th is the next Compulsory function with the Horse Racing Night back by popular demand. July 22nd Ladies Night - Saturday Night after the Heidelberg game What a statement straight from the horse’s mouth for those that thought the Prez didn’t have a heart he obviously has!!
