Round 18 1 September 2007
This week we welcome Bundoora to our ground for our last game of the year. Bundoora are doing well this year with their seniors cemented into the finals. A loss before the finals will be good for Bundoora’s finals campaign, a good way to make a team hungry. So let’s help out Bundoora on their run to the flag and beat them in the last round. It certainly wont hurt our pride to finish the season on a high either.
Seniors
A great game of football for Vossy’s last game. It’s a pity we couldn’t send him off into retirement with a win. We stayed with them for 2 quarters and really worked hard around the ground, but when we kicked 2 goals 5 points in the 3rd quarter we knew we would have to work hard in the last quarter. We kicked 1 goal 4 point’s in the last and we let them kick 4 goals to seal the game. Poor kicking in front of goals really didn’t make the task any easier for us. The game was there for the taking and we didn’t take it. Once again, Kingy was the man who was everywhere and Wriggles was the force on the back line. Ben, Jaco, Brad and Santo all chipped in with very respectable games.
Seconds
Once again we started off under the pump with only 15 players turning up for the game, sure we have some injuries but the real disappointment is when the going got tough, the tough got going and the soft cocks quit. Once again I have to thank the under 19’s that saved our bacon on the day and stood up to play 8 quarters. The score line makes the game look worse than it really was. We didn’t play that bad we just let them score far too easily, really need to work on our defensive skills. Pencil was the man on point with 4 goals and Olly chipped in with another 2, Haysy and Westy were easily best on ground with Moata, Speedy, Cam and Nick right up there with them.
U19’s
I’m getting sick of saying this but it was another game we should have won, but 6 goals 16 points is not a winning score. We had more scoring shots, more of the play, more determined at the ball and played better football but we still lost on the day, work out what went wrong and let’s fix it. Kurt, Guru, Pato, Johnsy, Steve and Twisties all played very serviceable games. Thanks to all the juniors that stepped up and helped up out once again, your help has been greatly appreciated by all the team.
Juniors
The junior AGM went well and Jacqui and her team have decided to stay on another year, now’s the time for others to put up their hand and help her out, there is always room on the committee for more workers, don’t be scared, she doesn’t bite…. Well not much anyway.

Around The Club
A quiet night at the club on Saturday night with a few of the boys coming back to celebrate Vossy’s retirement with him. It was good to see the young heifers in one corner playing pool and sucking down cruisers like there was no tomorrow and in the other corner were the old Bulls reminiscing over the old photos. Olly was over heard telling Moata and Vossy that he didn’t realise how old he really was, they were quick to assure him that he really was old J

Round 17 25 August 2007
Seniors
We stayed with the Cougars till half time and that was about it. We let them kick 16 goals to our 1 in the last half. No one can win a game when you allow an opposition to dominate like that. Kingy was strong around the ground as always and Wriggles showed what dedication is in the back line against a dominating force in the last half. Jaco and Santo helped keep us in the game in the first half with some inspiring football. If we played the second half the way we played the first half the score line would have been different
Seconds
Congratulations to Moata on 200 open age games for Epping, it’s a pity we couldn’t have come off the paddock with a win for him. We didn’t look convincing at all in the first 3 quarters, but something happened at the ¾ time break, was it an inspirational coach’s address or did we change the water bottles for something stronger? If you were race horses we would have had you swabbed. We managed to finish the game on a high note kicking 5 goals to the Cougars one, it made the score line a little more respectable. Macca and Willo were great in front of the big sticks with 3 a piece, good effort guys.
U19’s
What can I say, the score didn’t reflect how hard we tried. We were trailing on the scoreboard all day but up until half time we were right in the game. After the long break we let them kick 7 goals but to our credit we didn’t drop our heads and came back in the last quarter to out score them. Young Garzi was impressive in front of goals with a lazy 6 but the stars of the day were the juniors that came up to give us a hand. With this sort of talent coming through the juniors, there might be a silver lining on all these dark clouds hanging over the club.
Juniors
Great effort this year from the junior committee. Jacqui and her committee have worked hard against unreasonable odds this year but have proved that if you all stick together you will survive any hardships. The junior AGM went well and Jacqui and her team have decided to stay on another year, now’s the time for others to put up their hand and help her out, there is always room on the committee for more workers, don’t be scared, she doesn’t bite…. Another great night last Saturday, it’s a pity so many of you missed it, don’t miss tonight’s Talent night or it’s going to hurt your hip pocket. How’s young Haber’s luck running, first he rides Lovey home and picks up a lazy $400 for his effort, then he take home the major prize on Saturday night, anyone looking to buy a house should hit him for a loan. Hopefully his luck will have dried up by the $10,000 draw so the rest of us can have a shot at it, if he takes home that prize too I’ll personally get him tested.

Round 16 18 August 2007
This week is Aurora’s Family day and we invite Northcote Park to our ground to compete for the Aurora Cup Trophy. Aurora is our major sponsor and will be at the club in large numbers to support us as they have done for the past few seasons. Aurora will have a promotion table in front of the club room and will be handing out gifts to the young kids. The ground is in magnificent condition and if the weather can be kind to us, we should all have a great day. We will finish the day off with a $1,000 reversible draw after the game, here’s your chance to make it a real great day. The numbers are limited so get in quick.
The boys are trying their hardest on the ground and need your SUPPORT so come along and show that you can be POSITIVE and that you are behind them 100%
Help is always appreciated before, during and after the game. Its always the same people doing the work behind the scene, so don’t be scared, see a committee member and lend a hand or if you want to help 19’s, Seconds or Seniors please see the team managers, then come and have a drink with us after the game. Be part of the Club, many hands make light work.
Seniors
We got off to a slow start to the game kicking against the wind in the 1st Quarter, after giving them a 7 goal head start we where playing catch up football for the rest of the game, we were competitive with West Preston and went goal for goal with them for a lot of the game, but we have to play that first quarter if we want to win. The positive from this game is that we were only 3 scoring shots behind, accuracy was the issue, let’s see if we can build on this, if we can play 4 quarters with the same intensity and endeavour there is no reason why we cant win this week.
Seconds
We were very competitive all day and very strong at the ball. We were with them until the second half when we just ran out of steam, fitness cost us in the end, of course kicking 20 points didn’t help either, we had 31 scoring shots to their 25, it should have been our game. Imagine what could happen if everyone got to training twice a week. A special thanks to the Under 19’s who played 8 Quarter on the day and performed well.
U19’s
What a shock to the system, we can be very competitive and match it with a top side when we have a full bench. A point up at ¼ time and a point down at ½ time but that’s where we ran out of legs. Get to training and let’s give these top sides a scare. Thank to all the under 17’s & Under 15’s that stepped up and performed so well.
Junior
Congratulations to all the winners of the Club’s best and fairest, we hope to see you playing for the senior side one day soon. A special congratulations to the boys that did well in the NFL vote count, Glen Grgic 2nd in the Under 15’s with Luke Mamone and Joshua Totino 2nd & 3rd in the Under 13’s.

Round 15 11 August 2007
This week we go to Reservoir lake, were we could sink or swim and match our trade with West Preston Lakeside. Hopefully we swim in all 3 matches with some players coming back from injury and unavailability we might give a good account of ourselves.
After we have a drink with the Roosters, we head back to the club rooms and see how good you really are at the Casino Night, so bring your friends and have a dabble.
Seniors
The day didn’t pan out like it should we were second to the ball most of the time, our back line kept trying and repelled a lot of the attacks. We need to get some consistency and play with some endeavour and team work.
Seconds
What a good game they played with all the injuries before and during the game and unavailability due to work commitments we called on the under 19’s and an under 15’s player. They all played very well, so keep your head up. A special thanks to our under 15 player who played very well, got some kicks and handballs, so thanks little woody.
U19’s
Last week the 19’s had a bye and the coach’s had a well deserve weekend off one went away and the other worked. All players will be back with a vengeance this weekend.
Juniors
Congratulations to the under 13 for making the semi final, they started poorly but the in second half they match it with the taller opponens, they tried all day but could not bring it home. Good season and well done.

Round 14 4 August 2007
There is no I in teams, we are one
This week we welcome the ladder leaders, Heidelberg, to our ground. Last time we meet they only just beat us in the last few minutes of the game, so lets see if we can go one step further and give them a run for their money. Then after the game have a few drinks and be confident we gave it our all.
Help is need before, during and after the game, so don’t be shy come and see a committee person and lend a hand.
Seniors
Started off well and ran with them until half time. After half time they kept running and we didn’t, fitness was probably the key issue here. Anyone who thinks they are at the peak of the physical fitness need not look any further than this game to prove that we all need to get to training and put in 100%, only then will we be able to play a full 4 quarters.
Seconds
Another dismal day on the track. Some tried hard and others just strolled around the park. Thanks to Under 19’s players that filled in. Everyone needs to stick together and we will start winning a few more. Hopefully we can get some positive comments from the boundary instead of sly remarks don’t forget we are all one club

Ladies can then head back to the club rooms and have some real eye candy at the Ladies Night.
Seniors
Concentration and manning up is the keys, a good first half but then our prime movers where shout down, there were some positive that came from the game and we should capitalize on these, so lets get to training and see if we can come home with a win .
Seconds

All teams are playing so let get down and support the boys and have a good day.
Seniors
An entertaining game in what were prefect conditions. Greensborough with the home ground advantage knew their ground well and used it better than we did. Some positives did come out of the game, one that comes to mind was Lumpy’s mark, even the Greensborough supporters were cheering.
Seconds
Big turn around from last week to this week we hit the front in the last quarter but could not sustained our momentum. Lets all stick together, listen to the coach and see if we can get on the winning side.
U19’s
During the game we had rain and sun but the sun didn’t shine on us, it was a good game. Thanks to the under 17’s for coming up to help us out.

Another hard day at the office for the boys, they gave all they could give and didn’t embarrass themselves, injuries and the weather didn’t help our day.
This week we are now playing at home against the Eltham Football Club, with a new spirit in our club we should give a good accountability for the club. After a great win, we will be holding our $1000 reversible draw, spirits night with a bit of poker on the side, so make sure you all attend don’t leave it to the same few, you will be missing a great night.
Seniors
It was a very spirited contest against one of the top side in the competition we were hard at the ball and we had our opportunities but didn’t capitalise on them. But this shows that we are heading down the right track.
Just stick together and we will start winning.
Seconds
Undermanned this week again and a few injuries didn’t help our game, but we gave it our best shot. We need to continually do the right things and work hard when we go forward and back. Thanks to the under 19’s that filled in. Everyone needs to stick together and we will start winning a few more
U19’s

If its anything like the Mystery tour night with green beer you will not want to miss this night.
Seniors
With a new coach and a new game plan the boys did extremely well, it’s only a matter of time before we hit our straps and start winning, each one has to gain the confidence of each other and trust.
Reserves
Undermanned this week but we gave it our best shot. We need to continually do the right things and work hard when we go forward and back. Thanks to the under 19’s that filled in, Ponte and Dwane for coming down giving us a chop out. Everyone stick together and we will start winning a few more

Round 7 16 June 2007
Our game plan certainly didn’t go as planned, one win out of three was definitely not what we had on the agenda, this week we are off to Westgarth St. to face the Cougars on their home turf, let see if we can upset their day and take home the three wins.
Seniors
After the effort in the Heidelberg game you could be forgiven for expecting a better showing against West Preston, unfortunately some poor kicking and poor decision making saw opportunities wasted in the first half. After getting back into the game we managed to flood our own forward line and give up any hope of winning the contest. Hopefully the side that played Heidelberg will show up next game against Northcote Park.
Seconds
A fantastic return to winning form, now we realise what we can do. A great team effort with no weak lines. Continue to have a positive approach and we will go a long way this year.
Great stuff.
U19’s
I wish I was a brain surgeon so I could find out what goes through the players’ minds at times, we had only 10 minutes that we hit the contest hard. It was good to see the sponsors at the game last week, I hope everyone had a great day, pity we couldn’t show them a win. The crew have been working hard on the $10k draw and have secured the great Dougy Hawkins to compare the day, so keep 2nd September clear

Round 6 9 June 2007
How good is it to be finally training on a football ground . This week we host West Preston at our ground, lets all get down to the club and support all three teams with positive voices and hopefully we can enjoy the after games refreshments with 3 wins.
Two words for this week are Umpires and Correct.
Seniors
Some great work from a lot of players, good to see that we weren’t embarassed by the leagues benchmark. One of the most entertaining game we have witnessed in a long time, the only negative from the game is that we lost, but if we work on the positives we will start winning soon, so let’s do the hard work and a good win is just around the corner.
Seconds
Were beaten by a more mature and experienced side, but will also improve as the season develops and we get some training time on the ground. We have some good young players at the club at the moment so don’t let your head drop.
U19’s
Had a bye
Juniors
Some great wins last weekend, congratulations to all the victors. The other teams tried hard but just couldn’t get over the line, better luck this weekend.

Round 5 2 June 2007
After a hard week training in different venues we are happy to say that due to a kind gesture from Montmorency Football Club we are able to train on a full ground under light and get some needed practice in and some needed drills. This week we head down to Heidelberg, the favourites again this year for the flag, lets all get down and support our boys and try and come home with a win.
Seniors
Another poor start that cost us the game, its showed in the last quarter that we can play together as a team, so let’s all get to training, do the hard work and a good win is just around the corner
Seconds
The winning streak is over for now a good hard game was played and the plan didn’t work, let’s see if we can get that good feeling back again and get another win on the board.
U19’s
Went down fighting, but we are a better side than the effort we put out. Vito is looking for some answer “Get to Training.”
Juniors
Well done to all the teams who had wins on the weekend, and to those who didn't, keep up the hard work at training and a win won't be far off. Thanks to the few parents who came into the canteen this Sunday, we need more helpers from all teams.

Round 4 26 May 2007
Well after so much anticipation last week it was a very disappointing day at the kennel. This week we welcome Montmorency to our ground, let’s all get down and support the boys and hopefully with 3 wins we can make it an exciting day.
This week is ladies day so get your wife/girlfriends and girlfriend friends to come and enjoy our hospitality.
Seniors
What a disappointing game, it took us three quarters before we decided to play football. If this is how we are going play every game it’s going to be a long season.
Reserves
Another hard fought win. It was a worry for a while but the team stood together and came out victors. We need to see everyone at training to continue the winning streak.
Under 19’s
Another game that didn’t go to plan. They showed us what a fit and dedicated team can do. Once we hit the track and start training as a team we will start winning.
Juniors
Some great wins last weekend, congratulations to all the victors. The other teams tried hard but just couldn’t get over the line, better luck this weekend.

Round 3 19 May 2007
Last week we played Greensborough at home, after a slow start we had a great comeback in the second half to come away with the win, our reserves also had a good day coming home with the 4 points. Disappointing day for our 19’s however, they need to get behind Vito, attended training and a win will be just around the corner.
This week we head down to the kennel, we need to get off to a good start and come home with 3 wins. Make your way down and show your support to the players and remember the key word is “ENCOURAGEMENT”.
Seniors
A wonderful, exciting, passionate team performance. Great signs from our young brigade. Never count us out when the heat is on. Onwards and Upwards. - 2IC
Reserves
Fantastic effort and a great win still have some areas to work on but the improvement is growing each week, make sure we all hit the track and keep moving forward. Good to see Chopper and Digger back in action. - Macca’s Mumbles

Round 2 12 May 2007
This weekend we welcome Greensborough, last year’s Division 2 premiers. The Borough are coming off an impressive start to the season and will not be the easy beats this year. It would be great to see all our supporters down at the ground cheering home all three teams, the 19’s kick off at 9:45. The True Blues is running well and starts at half time in the two’s
Seniors
Not a great start to the season – we allowed ourselves to be jumped again. Despite the loss many positives did come out of the game including good performances from our younger players. We are a “work in progress” but we are definitely a better side than the scoreboard showed. 2IC
Reserves
A fantastic effort for the first game. A lapse in concentration for one quarter and a Martian on “L” plates cost us the game. Very Positive signs from many new and experienced players. Great to have supporters out on the ground when we were winning, unfortunately many went missing at 3 quarter time and full time when we were down just remember one for all and all for one. Macs Mumbles
Under 19
We finally got a squad together, unfortunately we can’t train on our ground. We lacked the ball skill’s all day but when we can use the oval we will improve. Despite the loss it was an overall great effort. Welcome to all the new players in the team, were looking for a great improvement in the coming rounds. Thanks to Eltham for their efforts in getting a 19’s side together. Scooter’s Report
Juniors
It was great to see how excited the Under 9's where to be able to play on the ground, it will be great when we all can finally get to train on the ground as a club. Well done to all the teams who had a win on the weekend, Under 9's, Under 14's, Under 15's and Under 17 Div 3.
Thanks to all the parents who helped out with the various jobs for your teams, it would be good to see a few more parents in the canteen either before or after your child’s game. Membership is now due please see your team manager for details. Good luck to all the teams for this weekend...

Round 1 5 May 2007
Seniors
We would like to welcome back all our Sponsors, members, supporters and players to season 2007. After a longer than normal preseason the players are all looking fitter with the extra training. We have been spending a lot of time at the athletics track and have improved our physical fitness and speed. We have recruited a few new players to the club and a lot of our juniors have made the big step up to the seniors and are all performing well at the higher level. Because of the extended preseason we have managed to fit in 5 practice matches and the coaches were all pleased with what they got out of them.
Juniors
The juniors have been having a hard time managing training with the ground restrictions but through some innovative training rotations by Madam President they have managed to get every team onto a little bit of grass every week. I hope all the players and parents appreciate just how difficult this has been to arrange and can be a little more understanding when the training venues are less than ideal, there are teams around Whittlesea that are in a lot worse situation than us.
Social
The social Calendar has been posted around the club and on the web page, because of the uncertainty with grounds this year the calendar may change occasionally, if this happens it will be posted on the noticeboard and the web page so keep an eye on both. Our first two games are at home so the next function will be round 3, we are planning a night at the Meadows greyhounds, any one that has been there before will tell you what a great night it is, make sure you get your bookings in early because this night has limited seats and will sell fast, more details at the club. The Seafood night is back on the agenda and we all know how big this night is so you better book your tables fast.
Around the club
Memberships are now available at the clubrooms, see the notice board for the package that best suits you. Thursday nights are up and running at the club with Floss providing her fantastic 3 course meals at bargain prices and the juniors have the rooms open on Friday nights with meals available. So get down to training have a great meal and find out what going on around the club.
