Round 18 22 August 2008
Seniors
Well what can I say, in front of a big crowd that came expecting a great game, the boys really turned it on and made sure everyone got their monies worth. All I can say is that I’m glad I wasn’t giving votes, with 22 players giving everything they had I would not have like to pick one person that was better than the rest. You have proved that you deserve to be in the four, now let’s carry that form into the finals.
Reserves
We went into this game with nothing to gain and nothing to lose, we were firmly entrenched in 4th spot and couldn’t move up or down. The only thing we really needed to do was show ourselves that were not just making up numbers in the final four. We play Mernda again in the first final so it was great to get a win over them and hopefully do it again next game. Well done boys
Under 19’s
Again this was a game that we had nothing to fight for except honour and the boys went out and did that in style. You have shown over the last few games just how good you really are, you should be proud of the season you have had and come back stronger next year.
Vote Count Sunday 13th Sept 2009

Round 17 15 August 2008
Seniors
A great consistent game by the whole team. Everyone worked well around the ground and we ran out comfortable winners.
Next game against Mernda is one that we don’t just have to win, we have to make up the 8 percent deficit if we want a shot at the final. We have put ourselves in this position and it is up to us to pull us out of it, good luck boys.
Reserves
We started off a little slow in the first quarter, but once we came back from the first break we turned on the power and just ran away with the game.
A real test next game up against 3rd place Mernda. When we beat them this game we will meet them again the next week in the first round of the finals. These are must win game and we know we can do it.
Under 19’s
Beaten by a better side on the day. Lets look forward to the last round again St Mary’s, a game we can win if we want it. Lets finish the season on a winning note.

Round 16 08 August 2008
Seniors
What a game, we got off to a flying start kicking away to an 8 goal lead at the first break, then eased off as Macleod slowly whittled away at our lead and final passed us in the third term. Although the game should have been ours after the start we got, at least we weren’t embarrassed with the final score, only going down to the ladder leader by 3 goals. We need to win the next two games if we are to have any chance of playing finals.
Reserves
The Second’s played the exact opposite to the Seniors, letting Macleod get the upper hand in the first term and them playing catch up footy all day to eventually run out winners by 9 points. The margin would have been bigger if the shots at goal were a little more accurate. Good win guys
Under 19’s
The boys were just out played by a very skilful and determined Macleod side. They outscored us in every quarter and ran out comfortable winners

Round 15 01 August 2008
Seniors
This was a game we really had to win and the boys didn’t disappoint us. We started the game like a team possessed and didn’t ease up until the final siren. It was good to see the whole team playing as a team. With the upset above us on the ladder we stay in 5th spot, out of third on percentage. It has become more important than ever to give our best in the last three games, we don’t want to be relying on other to fail so we can make the finals.... we have to force our way in.
Reserves
Another great game by the boys. We started off slowly and Watsonia stay with us for most of the game, but a great last quarter by the whole team saw us run out comfortable winners. This week against Macleod we have to show that we are not just making up numbers in the four, we are contenders and now is a good time to show it. We beat them last time and we can do it again.
Under 19’s
A great win for the thirds. We played three great quarters of football but just stopped in the last. This week we play Macleod again, we would rather forget the last time we met but if we play like we did this week we can be proud of our game
Junior Views
What a thrilling final round for the Juniors! Coming into Round 14, we had 9 teams still in contention for finals.
Our 14's, 15's, and both 17's gave everything this year, but, sadly could not get over the line to finish in the top 4.
Our premiership hopes now rest with our younger age Juniors. Congratulations to all the players and coaching staff of our Under 10's, both Under 11's, Under 12's and both Under 13's for making finals and best of luck in the coming weeks.
The EFC Junior Committee would like to thank all players, supporters and staff for participating in the home and away series this year.

Round 14 25 July 2008
Seniors
What a great game to watch. We matched it with Diamond Creek all around the ground. We managed just out score them in each of the first three quarters and stayed with them in the last when they fought back to try and win the game. Great effort guys.
Reserves
A very low scoring game, especially by us. They really showed us why they are the top side. We didn’t score a goal until the second half and that was our only goal for the game. We really need to work harder if we are going to achieve the team goals. That games done! Let’s learn from it and look forward to the next round against Watsonia
Under 19’s
We had no answers anywhere around the ground against the competition leaders. Learn from this game and move on. We need to regain our confidence this week against Hurstbridge
Next Round
This week the Seniors and Reserves take on Watsonia at home, in both grades Watsonia is just a couple of rungs below us on the ladder. We need to be on our best game to make sure we don’t throw away what should be a couple of good wins.
The 19’s are at home against Hurstbridge who only beat us by a goal when we played them a couple of weeks ago , playing this round on our home turf were hoping it will give us the advantage we need to get over the top of them.

Round 13 18 July 2008
Seniors
Now we know why they are the benchmark team, they were stronger, faster and more determined than we were all day, they ran as hard at the end of the game as they were at the start. They let us know where we need to improve our game, let build on this lesson and learn from it
Reserves
We got home against the ladder leaders, but only just! Once again we only played three quarters of football but this time it was enough, next time it might not be.
Under 19’s
Just weren’t good enough on the day. We came out of blocks well but didn’t continue on after the first break. We really need to play four solid quarters of football to win games

Tool of the week
Who was the tool that looked into the clubroom before the Presidents Luncheon and remarked that she didn’t think Daryl Braithwaite was here yet. I haven’t heard Dale Weightman sing but I doubt he will be getting offered a leading role with Sherbet.
The Water Boy
Our thoughts go out to Gary Johns and his family after Gary put a scare into everyone with his grey ghost impersonation during the game on Saturday. After a peaceful night with a couple of cute nurses I hear Gary is on the mend and is now getting some remodelling work done to see that it doesn’t happen again.

Round 12 11 July 2008
Seniors
A good hard game in windy conditions that made passing and scoring difficult. Bulldog, Moorey, Freddy and Garzy stared across the centre and up forward while Macca cut them to pieces in the back line. A great effort from all players saw us run out comfortable winners. The next game against the Ladder leaders will really show us where were at.
Reserves
What can I say, this was a game we should have won. When you are more interested in going the man and not the ball you throw the game away. Discipline was out the window, maybe that’s a reflection of the lack of numbers at training.
Under 19’s
Not a bad showing against a side just above us on the ladder. The game was there for the taking, we just needed to take that extra step and the result could have been different.
Juniors
An even spread for the juniors in Round 11, with 5 wins and 5 losses. All sides are showing improvement since the start of the season, and most teams have a chance at playing finals. Congratulations to all players who have taken part in the Junior Development Squads. We look forward to seeing the extra training and development pay off at club level.

Round 11 04 July 2008
Seniors
In what turned out to be a very low scoring game we did just enough to scrape home. Definitely not our best football and we will really need to improve if we are going hold our spot in the four
Reserves
The Two’s had a slow start to the day only scoring 7 goals by the main break, then kicked another 2 in the 3rd quarter. But whatever was said at the ¾ time huddle work because they managed to pour on 11 to nil in the last quarter to run our comfortable winners. Great game of football to watch.
Under 19’s
The Thirds managed another good win that saw them jump from 10th to 7th on the ladder. After kicking 2.6 in the first quarter the boys pull it together and eventually ran out 48 point winners. The one downside to the game was the poor kicking in front of goals.

Round 10 27 June 2008
Seniors
Great game by the whole team, superb effort by Morry, Simo and Azza. It’s time to build game and start looking to cementing a spot in the finals.
Reserves
Well done to all the boys, they all gave 100% and it shows in the score line.
Under 19’s
Another great game, our season is finally starting to come together with good hard consistent football. A couple of more wins will see us move up the ladder.
Juniors
All teams are working hard in the lead up to the finals. 7 wins for this week with the U13’s Blue registering a great win by 97 points down to the U11 Silver just slipping in by the slimmest of margins. It’s good to see that the numbers are improving at training and that is showing in some of the games. We still need everyone to get down to training and with the right team attitude we will start to get more wins on the board.
The Juniors have a rest this weekend to make way for the Rep squads to play.
Congratulations to
Saige Cirillo, Luke Nicol, Larissa Taramaha and Kyle Hedderick for making the Under 12 Rep Team.
They will be playing this Sunday 5th July at Beale Reserve. 1st game is at 11.00am. Let’s all get down and support these players as they represent our club to the league.

Round 9 20 June 2008
Seniors
What a great game from everyone for 3 quarters. After setting up a commanding lead for the first three quarters we decided to switch off in the last and nearly threw the game away. If we want to be real contenders come finals time we need to start putting four solid quarters together now. It’s good to see Lewie back home where he belongs and in his first game back he turns on a stellar performance
Reserves
The guys got off to flying start in the first quarter and managed to hold that consistency for the whole four quarters. Inaccuracy in front of the big sticks might have cost us the game, but we held on for comfortable win. Judda played a blinder in his come back game with Brad, Kev and Patto showing their consistency week after week.
Under 19’s
The boys were beaten by a better side, but there were positives to come out of the game. The work rate was up around the ground and even after getting a fair thumping in the third quarter the boys were able to pull themselves back together and give it another good go in the last. Great performances by Warren, Shiney, Dundon and Deas

Round 8 6 June 2008
Seniors
We started the game off slowly but by the second quarter we were in full swing and maintained the intensity until the final siren. Young Garzy and Azza had a day out in front of goals and Moorey work hard all around the ground, congrat’s has to go to the back line who repelled most of Reservoir’s attack and limited their scoring options. Everyone played their part on the day to help make up some of the percentage we have lost.
Reserves
What a great way to start the day, the guys played a blinder to run out convincing winners. Woody, Krstevski and Kev played like they own the ground delivering the ball up forward where Plumber, Patto and Johnsey kicked 16 between them. Great all round effort and a great game to watch.
Under 19’s
The 19’s have had a rest for the last two weeks but will be back next Saturday with a home game against Hustbridge. These two team are evenly matched so it should be a great game to watch, make sure you get down and cheer the boys on.

Round 6 23 May 2008
Seniors
We were off to a flying start in the first quarter but after losing Freddy Hollows in the early in the game we lost the momentum out of the centre and let Stars back into the game. We managed to hold the smallest of leads at the main break but really let ourselves down in the last half. Once again we lost the game by not playing out all 4 quarters
Reserves
We started the game slow but went into the first break less than a goal down. The second quarter was more like the football we know we can play but then we eased off again in the third. After being given some home truths during the final break we came out and played real football and blew the Stars away. If we played four quarters like we played the last we would be at the top of the ladder.
Under 19’s
Once again we let ourselves down, played a blinder in the firsts and if we had of played out the next three quarters the same way we would have had something to brag about. Another game we should have won... but didn’t. We really need to start playing 4 quarters of football every game.
Juniors
A mixed bag of results from the Juniors this week. Six teams registered win while 5 teams didn’t quite make it to the line. Special mention to the 10’s, 11 Blue, 12’s, 13’s Red and 15’s who all had huge wins over the opposition and the 11’s Silver just managed to hold on. Congrats goes out to Ben Power, James Panther, Mitchell Withers who were all fantastic in front of goals, but of course the real thanks goes to rest of the team that managed to deliver the ball to them. Some fantastic efforts over the weekend and some that just need get to training, work a little harder, and the results will look after themselves.
Make sure everyone gets up the Club on Friday night for a drink and a feed and listen to the Coaches reports on the games.

This is a compulsory player function so get down and party with the players.

Round 5 16 May 2008
Blues News
How good does it feel to finally get all three wins. The 19’s started the day off for us by upsetting Bundoora’s plans and after a slow start played a blinder in the last half and ran out convincing winners. It was a similar story with the twos, they were plodding alone doing the job well but someone must have switched the water bottles at three quarter time because they went ballistic and doubled their own score in the final quarter. Although the seniors started slow they played good consistent football most of the day. All in all a great result for the club, let’s see if we continue the good form this week.
Seniors
We started the day slowly with only 3 majors in the first quarter, but made up for the slow start in the next three quarters. The third quarter should have been our best but poor kicking in front of goals had the points nearly overtaking the goals. We still can’t get 4 full quarters of good football and that what it going to take to beat the teams at the top of the ladder. We know we can do it so now is a good time to show everyone else.
Best were Moorey Little Macca Willo Keating Simo
Reserves
We started the day off really slow, a bit wet and Panton Hill wanted the ball more than we did. We sorted a few things out in the rooms at halftime and the boys switched on and had a great last half. Everyone stick together and focus on the one thing.
Best were Johnsy, Woody, Baldy and Kev
Under 19’s
As we said, a win was not far away and it came on Saturday against Bundoora. We showed that when we work as one we are a very competitive side. We had a very good first quarter against the wind which gave us the momentum to be further in front in the second quarter with the breeze. But we did not stick to the game plan, which resulted in Bundoora gaining the lead. Yet we came out at the main break with the intent to stick to our game plan for the next half and to your credit you as a team followed through. The lesson to be learned is we need to make sure that we play four quarters of footy, we all need to get to training so we all understand the game plan in particular kick ins and kick outs. For our first win of the season it was a good one so let’s keep it going.
Under 13 Blue
We hopefully learned a valuable lesson on Sunday, that we need to play 4 quarters of football to win a match. We let ourselves down with a very poor 3rd quarter. Let's look to the positive final quarter effort which showed we were disciplined and committed enough to rally again and almost save ourselves. If we can play a consistent 4 quarters, we can match it with anyone.
Epping 7.5.47 lost to Mill Park 9.8.62
Best - Joey Panuccio, Adam Rose, Mitchell Withers
Well done Kim Hamer on the Tatts win - we appreciate and thank all those who have supported our under 13 fundraiser.

Round 4 9 May 2008
Blues News
Well we travelled down to the Creek full of hope and came home with our tails between our legs. It was such a beautiful day for football and on a brand new ground, it was disappointing that we couldn’t come home with a win. The Netball girls tried hard all night but they couldn’t even secure a win for us. We all need to get to training, forget about this round and concentrate on winning the next game.
Seniors
Well I don’t know what to say, we played 3 quarters of football but decided to let Diamond Creek have a free run in the third, they weren’t better than us, just fitter and more disciplined. We need to play four full quarters of football and only then will we see the wins on the board.
Reserves
Beaten by a better side on the day, bigger, stronger, faster. We worked hard all day and never gave up, we played our best football right to the final siren. Patto, Johnsy and Jonesy chipped in with a couple of majors each but the congrats to Baldy, Kev and Hasey who put in all day.
Under 19’s
In what was a very good game of football for four quarters, we as a group have improved over the last couple of weeks, in our attitude and our resolve to keep on improving, we know that we just ran out of legs in the last 10mins, it will come, once we can run out a full four quarters, then results will take care of themselves.
Netball
We lead for the first three breaks before Hurstbridge clinched the match in the final quarter. We worked well together in the goal circle and took the lead by five goals. Hurstbridge made a number of position changes at the half time break and took the first two goals in the third term. Our goal shooters were precise and we led by three goals leading into the final quarter. Hurstbridge secured the first goal in the last quarter and their defence improved as they limited us to a single goal in the final term eventually winning by 2 points. The final score was Hurstbridge (15) to Epping (13).
Under 13 Blue
Fantastic effort by the whole team against last year's premiers. We were within a kick at the 3 quarter time break, but ran out of legs again in the last quarter. We are on a learning curve in division one and improving each week. All players should proudly hold their head high after a hard fought contest. Grading games are finished and now we focus on our season & goals ahead of us.
Congrats to Rosey on the tatts win!

Round 3 2 May 2008
Blues News
Another glorious day for football, the sun was shining, the birds were singing and we won two out of three games. The Seniors forgot about last round and got back to playing good football with Azza and young Garsy providing a deadly two pronged attack scoring 9 majors between them. The Reserves got up by 33 points with Kane chipping in a lazy 8 goals, but even with Soley and Dimasi playing blinders, the 19’s just got pipped at the post, going down by 8 points
Seniors
The Senior Team performance against Watsonia was a much improved effort from the previous week and showed what we are capable of if we put our mind to it.
A great start where our intensity was excellent saw us kick eight goals and set up a winning break. We continued to play very good and smart football for the rest of the game. In the end it was a great four quarter effort without any lapses, a blue print for the rest of the year!
Our defence was excellent, keeping them to six goals from a lot of IN50’s. Great games from Peter McMahon and Shaun Garland. Another fine performance from Matt Garland saw him kick four goals. Other better players in a top team effort were Luke Lirosi, Daniel Moore, Jared Sheldrake and Simon Kefalas. Our forward set up worked very well because we stuck to our plans.
Another big game looms next week against the undefeated Diamond Creek who are in good form. We need to make sure that we prepare well during the week and come ready to play on Saturday. Best: Loorham, McMahon, Garland, Kefalas, Lirosi, Little.
Reserves
Game was tougher than we expected. They pushed us all the way. Losing Durso in the dirt 10 mins after the game commenced didn’t help but Josh & Mota filled in well. A great 3rd quarter won it for us because we stuck to the game plan and worked together.
We have another hard one this week. Everyone needs to be switched on.
Best: Kendall, Baldwin, Wood.
Under 19’s
We went down by a goal in what was a good game of football, yet we had a win as a group, we kept our resolve to be committed to each other and to the Epping Football Club, we showed that we could match any team in the competition. It was only in the last ten minutes of the game, due to the lack of fitness, which resulted in poor decision making inside our forward 50 that cost us the game.
We should all be looking forward to next week.
Best: Sole, Dimasi, Samartzis, Howden, Maxwell, Ellis.
Under 13 Blue
Congratulations on a great win in a hard fought contest. Smart team football brought us the result and you should be proud of the achievement. We put our hands up on Sunday to stay in 1st division and I have every confidence in our team that we can now go on with it. Believe in yourselves and each other - when we play as a team, we can achieve great results.
Get to training on Wed & Fri nights - our only disappointment on Sunday is we ran out of legs in the 2nd half - training will fix this!
Best Players - Jaedyn Kearney, Mitch Chambers, Anthony Bradford

Round 2 25 April 2008
After an early start at the dawn service a lot of the old soldiers wandered down to Epping for the much anticipated game between Epping and Mernda. After our win against Whittlesea we were brimming with confidence and were looking for three solid wins from the day, unfortunately Mernda had other ideas and we only managed to get up in the Two’s.
The day started off with lots of promise in the 19’s, for half a game we managed to stay with Mernda going into the big break only 3 points down. The second half was a different story, we managed only 6 goals while allowing 12 to be kicked against us.
The two’s managed to put up a great show against a well manned Mernda side. The backline was under pressure all day but never once did they give Mernda a break, working hard to repel the ball and put us back into attack. Durso made great use of the ball all around the ground and put in a great Best on Ground performance. Woody and Guerra continued their dominance, putting on a spectacular marking display at every opportunity and kicking 2 goals each, Poole chipped in with another 2 goals but the big man up forward was Patto who ended up with 5 majors for the day. Fantastic effort by all players and a great game to watch.
The Seniors was the game that we all wanted to win but that just wasn’t the way it ended up. We started the game slowly and it wasn’t until after half time that we really started to play some good football but by then it was too late. Moorey continued his starting role with another Best on Ground performance, Lumpy and little Little were making the best of every contest working hard to drive the ball forward while Bulldog and Shelly worked hard around the packs. The highlight of the day was young Garzy who debuted this week and kicked a goal with his first kick in senior football then continued to play good football all day earning third best on ground in his first game.
This week we take on Watsonia and I hope Mernda has done us a favour and brought us back down to earth and we can show Watsonia that we really do know how to play 4 quarters of football.
After a couple of drinks with the Watsonia boys it’s back to our rooms for the first function of the year and everyone’s favourite, The Casino Night. This is a compulsory function so I know that every player on the list will be there to prove that we are not just a team on the ground but an even better team off the ground, don’t let your mates down with lame excuses.
Under 13’s blue has made a startling recovery after coming up against a dominating Eltham in round one they manage to put on an extremely impressive performance under difficult conditions against Mill Park. We started to bring our team orientated plays into our game and our second half was a strong, disciplined effort which was unlucky not to have received better reward. Great team effort - extra mention to all the backline for their consistent 2nd, 3rd & 4th efforts and our midfield who provided linking options for rebounds in the 2nd half. In the end, the lucky bounces just didn’t fall our way.

Round 1 18 April 2008
BLUES NEWS
The much anticipated first round finally arrived with everyone chomping at the bit. With a lot of hard work by the committee and coaches we managed to get 3 sides on the field. It was great to see the Under 19’s up and running again under the guidance of Rod Watkins and Mick Glasgow.
UNDER 19’S
For these boys it was the first time that they had played together as we have had a few come across to us from other clubs. Welcome to Epping.
The future looks bright as we have a lot of great young talent running around. The scoreboard did not reflect the skill and tenacity displayed against Whittlesea.
When we gel as a team look out! Congratulations to Matt Sole who has been named captain. He will be well supported by his leadership group.
RESERVES
It’s great to see some old faces coming back to the club to play with their mates. However we need to see some of these guys at a few more training sessions. There are plenty of skilled players amongst this group. It was a third quarter lapse which ultimately cost us the game. Heads up we want a big one this week against Mernda.Congratulations to Frank Carlucci and Matt Patti named as co-captains.
SENIORS
What a great start to the season! Under the captaincy of Brad Hollow, we hit the ground running and kept going. We will be a force to be reckoned with if we continue to play as we did last week. Welcome to Daniel Moore and Damien Beames who played their first game for Epping Last week. Also welcome back to Shaun Garland…good to see you back where you belong. It was great to see Brian & his crew from Aurora at our game last week. It was a pleasure to take possession of the ‘Aurora Trophy’ .
SOCIAL
Our first social function is Round 3 after our game against Watsonia (away). The ever popular Casino Night. This is a compulsory function to be attended by all players.
