Well here we go another season about to commence on Saturday the 10th of April, 2010. We are playing away at Watsonia and so let’s all get there and support the boys on the opening round of the season.

We have played 3 practice games and have won all three with very convincing wins against Torquay, Sunshine and Port Colts who apparently hadn't lost at their home ground for a number of years until they played us. Hopefully we will be in for a good year but of course we need your full support to make the season a successful one.

This Thursday night the 8th of April there will be a jumper presentation night and so let’s all get along and watch the boys in their final training run before the opener against Watsonia. Of course as usual there will be a meal put on by the ladies. Wayne Long and Gary Johns will be selling Membership tickets on the night and Glen Little will be selling True Blue tickets as well. Also the Joker will off and running again. "DON’T FORGET THE COURTESY BUS WHICH WILL RUN EVERY THURSDAY NIGHT COMMENCING AT APPROX 5.30P.M. AND THE LAST RUN FROM THE CLUB AT 10P.M. RING 0466 067 131 OR 0431 707 473 TO MAKE A BOOKING. WHY NOT USE THE BUS AND COME ALONG AND ENJOY YOURSELF KNOWING THAT YOU DON’T HAVE TO DRIVE HOME.
See you all at the club on Thursday night.

Regards,
Steve Passeri

On this night we will be naming our Captains for the 2010 season as well as jumper presentation (As long as jumpers have been delivered otherwise this will take place on the 8th of April) and also photographs will be taken of players for their players sponsorships Make sure we all turn up for this night.

There will be meals served on every Thursday from then on. Please be patient with the meals as it is going to be very difficult with the current kitchen situation.

ONCE AGAIN THIS YEAR WE WILL BE RUNNING THE COURTESY BUS ON A THURSDAY NIGHT COMMENCING AT 5.30P.M. AND THE LAST BUS LEAVING AT 10P.M. WITH THE CURRENT EMPHASIS IN THE COMMUNITY ABOUT THE ROAD TOLL BE SURE TO RING AND BOOK A SEAT ON THE BUS SO YOU DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE. THERE IS NO LONGER A NEED TO BECAUSE OF THE BUS. PHONE NUMBER TO RING AND BOOK A SEAT IS (0466 067 131 or 0431707473)

Don’t forget this Saturday the 20th of March we have a practice match against Sunshine at our home ground. The cricket club will be running the day so come along and support your team as well as the Cricket Club. Also on this day Memberships will be available for sale. Well great to see that "FOOTY IS BACK". As I said in my previous message we have been trying to recruit players basically since October 2009 and I am glad to say that we have done a pretty good job. Thanks in particular to Mario (Supa), Fulla and Rod for all their hard work over the last few months. The following is a list of players recruited so far. If there are any more added to this I will let you know.

Josh Stavely (Permanently back from Preston)

Aaron Johnson (Lower Plenty)

Jake Mckenzie (Lower Plenty)

David Vangelli (Watsonia)

Ryan Byrne (Watsonia)

Les Adams (Mernda)

Nick Canals (Ice) Back from Lower Plenty to play again

Allan Mdewa (Good Tall played last year at St Bernards Essendon and former rugby player for Zimbabwee)

Karl  Lewicki (Devon Meadows)

Michael Polly (Hadfield)

Adrian Totino (Now Cleared to Epping).

Joel Dunlop (Surfers Paradise)

Luke Fowler (Thomastown)

As well as these players all players from last year have signed except for Shaun Garland, Frank Carlucci and Westy who have gone to other clubs. So we look like having a good year and hope that we will get plenty of support from you all.

The following is a list of our practice matches.

March 6th Intra Club Match (Cancelled due to lack of ground availablity)

March 13th vs Torquay (Away)

March 20th vs Sunshine (Home)

March 27th vs Port Colts (Away)

Hope to see you at the practice games wherever possible. The game on the 20th of March is being run by the Cricket Club who have had a hard year financially with all the renovations going on so come along and watch the game as well as support the Cricket Club. While I am on that can I give my thanks to Fletch and the whole of the Cricket Club for allowing us to train on both the grounds for most of the pre - season. This makes it so much easier for us and their support is appreciated. Also to Simmo for opening up whenever we needed him to even if Rod Watkins doesn't think so.

Juniors
Can I advise all members that our new Junior Director for 2010 is Mick Glasgow who volunteered to take on the job and is currently getting the juniors organised. Thanks to Mick for putting his hand up and helping out, it is much appreciated. Also don’t forget Junior Rego day this Sunday at the club.

Clubroom Reno's
We are hopefull that the Social Rooms will be ready for operation in the next week or so which will be good. We take over from the Cricket Club on the 22nd of March 2010 and Thursday night's will commence not long after that. We will let you know further after we have a committee meeting. The Courtesy Bus will once again be running. Unfortunately the Canteen, Change rooms, both home away, and the store rooms will not be complete until the end of May, so we will be operating the canteen and change rooms from portables until then. We organised to have only one home game in the first 5 weeks because of the renovations.

Anyway that’s enough from me for the moment so see you all around the club soon.

Steve Passeri
President.

Welcome back for 2010 and I hope that one and all had a great Christmas and a happy New Year. We have been busy since October 2009 trying to sign players for this year and we will supply a full list of new players hopefully in February sometime. All current players have signed except a couple but we hope to sign them as soon as we start back at training. We have also signed a quite a few new players and we will post a full list of those when they are all finalised. Senior Training commences on Monday the 18th of January 2010 at the football ground. Let’s get off to a flying start for 2010 and have 50 or more at training on the 1st night. We need to keep numbers up at training so that we are fit for the start of the season as well as impressing new players who turn up for a run to see how the club is travelling.

JUNIOR REGISTRATION DAY WILL BE HELD AT THE EPPING FOOTBALL GROUND ON SUNDAY THE 21ST OF FEBRUARY 2010 COMMENCING AT 11A.M.. ALL JUNIORS COME ALONG AND START THE YEAR OFF WITH A SAUSAGE SIZZLE AND REGISTRATION.

I would like to introduce our new Reserves Coach for the 2010 season. After long deliberation we have appointed Ross Fairweather (Stormy) as our Reserves Coach for 2010.    Congratulations to him. Ross has played a lot of Diamond Valley Football and has coached at Senior  and Junior Level. He has played Senior Football for Hurstbridge and West Preston compiling approx 200 games. He has also played Super Rules with Reservoir for approx 6 years. We are pleased to appoint him as Reserves coach and hope that all players and members get behind him and make him feel welcome at the club.

On that note Pre-Season is to commence on Monday the 16th of November, 2009 at the top ground at Epping at 6p.m. sharp. Please make a huge effort to get the season off  to a big start with a big turnout for the 1st night. There will be some new players that we are trying to sign attending training on Monday and so the more that are there the better so that these players see a committed group. Please make these guys feel welcome. Unfortunately I wont be there as I am overseas for a couple of weeks so I hope all goes well for the new coaches and all players.

Regards,
Steve Passeri
President Epping Football Club

We are having a meet the coach night at the Clubrooms on Friday the 6th of November 2009 at approx 6p.m. Food and drink available for purchase. Everyone is welcome so come along and make it a huge welcome for Mario.

As people are probably aware at the recent Annual General Meeting there were no nominations in writing or from the floor for the Junior Committee positions. Since then Jeff Cullen has been standing in as Junior Director until we can find someone to take over. Jeff and I have been working on this situation and I am happy to say that people have come forward to help out for season 2010. At this stage we are still looking for the right person to be Junior Director but we are speaking to a number of people about this position and hope to fill it soon. I am happy to welcome Andrea Holman who will do an Asst. Secretary job, doing the newsletters, registrations etc.  Also we will have Justin Sloan and Fiona Matthews who are brother and sister and have put their hand up to share the roll of Treasurer for the juniors. As well as these people we have the following people who have volunteered to be on General Committee. Dave Ellis, Chris Latham, Sharee Jenkins, Monica Cullen and Jeff Cullen. We are still speaking to other people in relation to General Committee and will advise members when they are appointed.

Can I just thank these people for putting their hands up and let them know that they will receive full support from the Senior body of the club. If you think you would like to help these people out then all you need to do is ring myself or Jeff Cullen and we would be more than happy to have you on board.

President’s Report - 14th of October 2009

The Annual General Meeting was held on the 13th of October, 2009 at the Epping R.S.L. and the following is a list of your Senior Executive Committee and General Committee for the 2010 season.

President: Steve Passeri
Vice President: Wayne Long
Secretary: Julianne Long
Treasurer Rod Watkins

General Committee: Gary Johns, Dave Wood, Glen Little, Ron Maxwell Peter Garland, John Wilitts, Jeff Cullen, Chris Moate and Cheryl Wood.

Congratulations to all and don’t forget if you were unable to make the meeting and would like to help out on the General Committee you are most welcome. Please let me know if this is the case.

Unfortunately there were no nominations for the Junior Executive and as a result Jeff Cullen will fill the roll of Junior Director until a replacement can be found. Jeff can only start things off as he has other commitments. IF ANY PERSON IS PREPARED TO HAVE A GO AND WOULD LIKE TO FILL ANY POSITION INCLUDING JUNIOR DIRECTOR THEN EITHER CONTACT MYSELF (0431707473) or Julianne Long (0433471347) If we don’t get anyone to help out then the Senior Committee will meet and decide what to do in relation to Juniors for the 2010 season. So if you’re interested please don’t hesitate to give me a call. After all it is only the kids that will suffer in the long run.

Over the past month we have conducted an extensive interview process to appoint a Senior Coach for the coming season/s. We would hope that an announcement as to the coach appointed will be made in the next couple of days.

Once again congratulations to those nominated to Senior Positions and hopefully we will be able to announce that we have a Junior Executive sooner rather than later.

Regards,
Steve Passeri
President Epping Football Club
